Unclaimed property Letter

Did you receive an unclaimed property letter from us?

Thank you for inquiring about the letter you received. This page will help you understand who we are and why we sent you a letter notifying you that you may be owed money. The Petersen Group, LLC serves as an unclaimed property management firm on behalf of many companies to attempt to locate the rightful owner(s) of unclaimed funds.

What is unclaimed property and why did you receive this letter?

Unclaimed property comes in many forms: unpaid wages, uncashed checks, accounts receivable credit balances, etc. Essentially, unclaimed or abandoned property refers to accounts with no activity or contact with the owner for a year or longer.  If these unclaimed funds, regardless of the reason for being unclaimed or abandoned, are not returned to the owner, the company holding the funds must turn them over to the state. Before doing so, the company must attempt to locate the owner by sending a due diligence letter to the last known address.  This is the letter you received.

Is this a scam?

No, this is not a scam. The Petersen Group works with many companies to locate owners and report their unclaimed property. Learn more about our unclaimed property services.

What if I'm not certain the money is owed to me?

Make a good-faith effort to review your records, then reply to the letter as you deem appropriate. If you do not reply by the deadline on the letter, the funds will be transferred to the state as unclaimed property, pursuant to state law. Future claims would, then, have to be made with the state.

How do I claim my property?

If you are the individual or business referenced in the letter, please complete the information requested in the letter, sign, and return in the envelope enclosed with that mailing. You can email your claim letter to: OwnerClaims@TPGunclaimed.com, or mail your completed letter to:

If you have additional questions, contact us or call our hotline at +1 800-TPG-3159.

If no response is received by the deadline indicated on the letter, these funds will transfer to the state as indicated by the address in your letter.  If you missed the deadline, you can still claim your money by contacting your state's unclaimed property department.

Are there any fees to claim my property?

No, there is no fee to you. If claimed, you will receive the amount listed on the letter you received.

How long does it take to get a refund after i return my letter?

Refunds vary by company, but typically it may take 120-180 days to receive payment. If you would like to follow up on the status of your refund claim, please contact us or call our hotline at +1 800-TPG-3159.
